Is CLB Drake's best?

This year has given us some of the best music we have heard in the past five years. Music is as popular as ever making it the perfect time for one of the best artists of our generation to drop one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Drake, or formally known as Aubrey Graham has released Certified Lover Boy after a three year wait and the fans have been buzzing ever since.

Drake is already on pace to have the highest first week numbers of his career but there is one man standing in his way and that is Kanye West. West dropped his new project titled Donda just five days prior to Drakes. The two had a brief feud earlier this month as West posted a photo of Drake's home address to social media which Drake shrugged off with a quick laugh. If he ends up passing West in sales then that will be the icing on the cake for the man they call Drizzy.

The album itself features some of the best artists today consisting of Jay Z, Lil Baby, Rick Ross, and Kid Cudi. The album was expected to be one of the best that Drake has released so far but some fans already have mixed feelings about the project. The album art itself was already deemed as “childish” prior to the release and some fans think the songs are fitting into more of a mainstream style of rap.

Now, with all that being said, I personally enjoyed the album. I wouldn't say that it is the best project of his career but I found bits and pieces that I was very intrigued by. As based on the title, Certified Lover Boy, Drake goes into his feels to talk about love from a males perspective which we are starting to see more of in rap music today. Some songs tend to be more upbeat such as “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug but the overall message of the project is love and heartbreak.

After many years of making controversial music, Drake has proved again that he is indeed too big to fail. His goal with all of his projects is to get the media as attached to it as possible and he has certainly done that. With the mass popularity of apps such as Tik Tok, snippets of many of the songs were already highly desired weeks before release. Drizzy has the full control of social media under his fingertips and he will continue to be for many years to come.

Love or hate the album, people must admit that Drake has been one of the most influential in the rap game recently. He has been able to produce hits on every project and that keeps the fans waiting for more every time. I see Drake as being a trend setter myself, people dress the way he does, act the way he does, and go to the same restaurants he does. If he wants to make a different style of music I can guarantee you we will see many young artists follow that path. Music is always developing and changing and Drake is one of the people at the forefront of that change.
